2010 FUNDRAISING PRIORITY: PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Each year, the Steering Committee focuses the NewLeaders fundraising effort to
a specific Division within the Hospital, allowing our fundraising and educational events to have a greater tie with the area we support. Pediatric Emergency Medicine is an area of care within the Hospital that many of us feel deserves to have the best medical care available, and unfortunately many NewLeaders have
had to visit with our own children at odd hours of the night or on weekends.

The Divisions of Pediatric Emergency Medicine are located in separate, pediatric-focused emergency care centers, offering 24/7 medical treatment for ill and injured children.  Each year, the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine’s staff sees over 60,000 visiting patients and over 5,500 inpatient admissions per year. The physicians are A.C.G.M.E. trained and certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the nurses are trained in caring for children.  The focus of the Divisions of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is to provide not only the best pediatric care but also excel in providing family-centered care too.

At the close of the calendar 2009 calendar year, NewLeaders donated $100,000
to the Divisions of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, with $50,000 being given to
each of the main campuses.  In choosing this Fundraising Priority for 2010, we know our efforts will provide the best patient care to the Hospital’s youngest patients allowing them to live healthy, happy lives and become the NewLeaders
of tomorrow.

Since 2007, NewLeaders has donated over $350,000 to the Hospital’s Emergency Departments, with $100,000 being directed towards Pediatric Emergency Medicine last year alone.  NewLeaders members have also given over $350,000 in gifts to support other Departments of the Hospital, such as the Center for Reproductive Male Infertility/Invitro Fertilization, Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Care.
