October 2008
Hello NewLeaders,
The crisp breeze in the morning and the coolness at night can mean only one thing: Fall has arrived. As you begin to pull sweaters, jackets and down comforters out of storage, we hope that you will also gear up to join in the fun of our packed schedule of social, volunteer and educational events.
Updates on NewLeaders Events
As the year is coming to a close, we will be posting end of the year and 2009 events on the Event Calendar page, so check back and check back often to see where NewLeaders can be found throughout New York City!
Our fall fundraiser and social event on Tuesday, October 7, You Are What You Eat…Come Eat With The Best - A Food Tasting and Silent Auction to benefit the Emergency Departments of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital- was a huge success! The NewLeaders Social Committee secured an amazing selection of the best restaurants and high-end auction items for this year’s fundraising event. The event raised over $70,000 for the Emergency Departments of the Hospital. Photos from the event can be seen on our Photo Gallery page or on Patrick McMullen Company’s photography website.
If you would like to add people to the invitation list for upcoming events, to join the Social Committee or for more information on providing sponsorships and auction items for events in 2009, please email us.
Volunteer at NYP
Our dedicated Volunteer Committee has adopted Neural Connections at Weill Cornell Medical Center as the NewLeaders Volunteer Initiative. Volunteers work directly with patients performing a variety of services, ranging from friendly chats and card games to mealtime assistance and mobilization support.
We are once again partnering with Friends For Kids and holding Volunteer Children’s Craft Days at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. The last NewLeaders Volunteer day scheduled in 2008 will be on Saturday, November 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Please join us in making it a special day for our youngest patients.

We have some great Education Events coming up this fall to round out our 2008 Education Series. Expect to receive more details on these soon via email, and as always, Educational Events are free to all NewLeaders members.
